Years after fleeing her hometown of Cedar Grove to escape the guilt of a tragic accident, struggling musician Alex Everett returns to settle her late mother's affairs. Haunted by the death of a friend she couldn't save, Alex is forced to confront the memories and people she left behind-most notably, Jordan, her ex-boyfriend and former creative partner. Their relationship, once passionate but troubled, was fractured by loss and unspoken blame.

Inspired by the themes of Noah Kahan's Stick Season, Fault Lies follows Alex's journey as she reconnects with her past, including the music she abandoned. When Jordan sends her the guitar they once shared, old memories resurface, and Alex finds herself navigating the fault lines of their broken relationship. As the two are drawn back into each other's lives, they must confront their shared history and decide if they can repair what's been broken or if the weight of the past is too much to bear.
