Sheila, an MFA candidate at Iowa State spends her days with her friends, James, Jackson and Dave. She writes flimsy erotica and goes to a pub every night with her friends. It all changes when one of her friends is accused of spiking a girl's drink at a party, and Sheila confirms seeing her with him at the party. She is left without friends, all except Kat and the Horror Queen Chloe. What she does not tell anyone is that the two months after, she has felt like a two-sided person, a bright and a dark side. Sheila writes the manuscript she is hoping to be published in her name, every morning. She types paragraphs and deletes them, because writing from a true-life affair is dull and redundant. And in the night, she comes alive with her second book. Obsessed with a murder mystery that weaves her past to present, Sheila writes a book about a campus serial killer who hunts down and kills her friends in the most horrible manner, using Urban legends as inspiration.
It is her hope that this book is published in her pen name, never to be linked with her. There is only one problem; she returns home to find the book missing. There is a writing in blood on her wall: Challenge Accepted.
It becomes a question of whether art mirrors the horrors of reality, or if it is the other way round. What happens when Legend comes to life, when a Phantom figure looms in the shadows with an all too familiar leather mask, and a hook for a hand?
Read as Sheila and her friends try to catch up the killer before the pages of her book turns, and it is their turn to die.

This is a #TeenFictionAnotherYearShortStory entry. --- Believe me, when adulting takes place, you forget your naΓ―ve little side instantly and are ready to fit yourself in the big boots. But let's say, it's too soon for Olivia Dee. For her, graduation was a ceremony, a consummation of all the misery and guilt she had had to bear, of which none whispered-and she finally had the chance to leave it all behind. But the world's twisted, right? What if...I say, she has to relive all her past memories--that nasty first kiss, to be labelled a troublemaker, to be accused of things she could never imagine ever doing? Sadly, this is not her decision to make. A day after her graduation, she wakes up to face her senior year again. She knows that she had completed her education, she spends hours yelling about it on everyone's face. But at the end, she has to go to college again with one question--how does she even return back in time? But this time, all she has to do is grapple with a recurring dream, try to eliminate all the dark spots in her senior year and find out the reason of this travel back in time. Yet one thing's for sure, she hasn't travelled back in time. I give you my word. I know. There are numerous black-outs, sudden falls, chills, drama and a whole different system of cheating, drugs, revenge and a famous Queen sister, who is, mysteriously, now not famous at all. Watch her swim and drown, as she struggles between her reality and to keep up with her past struggles again, literally. Meanwhile, there's one context she never understands: Death undoes anything. *** Credit to @cattown_graphics She is a real darling, and managed to present me this cover at a very short notice. I'm so grateful!

'The night was alive with silence. I moved through it like a shadow, black leather gloves tight on my hands, boots soft against the grass. My gas mask hid my face, leaving only darkness where my eyes should be. The world narrowed to a single point: the house ahead. Tonight, it would belong to me. The farmhouse rose stark and white beneath the moonlight, silent except for the occasional grunt of a pig or the low hum of a cow. They were unaware. They were insignificant. I crouched behind the hedge, eyes scanning, senses alert. Every detail mattered: the flicker of light across the curtains, the faint rustle of movement inside, the way a shadow shifted across the floor. She was there. Oblivious. Popcorn in hand, murmuring to herself as the television flickered. Every motion was a note in tonight's symphony, and I was the conductor. I studied her, cataloging. Timing. Patterns. Fear. She didn't notice me yet, and that was perfect. Patience was everything. One sound, one misstep, and it could all unravel. I rang the doorbell once. Silence. Again. Still nothing. She flinched slightly, just enough to make my pulse quicken. Her small reaction was delicious. A sudden movement in the yard caught my eye-a neighbor's dog barking at some unseen intruder. Its voice was loud, startling, but contained. I froze. My breath slowed. Patience. Observation. The dog's curiosity would pass. I remained still, hidden in shadow, letting the moment stretch. The animal lost interest and padded away. Perfect. I moved to the back of the house, hammer in hand.' ...

undergoing 1st round developmental edits!! When Edith, an overworked college student goes no contact with her parents, she must find a way to financially support herself while she gets her degree. She enters a writing competition in which the winner gets a book deal. When she struggles to write the violence in the slasher novel she decided to write, she turns to drastic measures for inspiration. After all, you should write what you know... a/n: hi guys!! this is an (incredibly) rough first draft of what originated as a project in my Creative Writing class. We were given the school year to write an original novella, and this is mine! I've grown really attached to the plot, but at my current writing skill, I don't think I could've properly gotten the point across in the time I was given. I'm publishing it here both to share it with my friends and to hopefully find proofreaders! I would really appreciate it if you could leave suggestions in the comments as they occur, or dm me for longer explanations! I'd also love to have people to help with the outlining in general, so dm me if you want to see the outline so you can critique that as well!
