Daenys Velayron had never wanted to leave the safety of Dragonstone, or the blanket of security it provided. When Aegon ii usurps her mother's throne, she has no choice but to play her part in the upcoming war. Rhaenyra chooses to send her eldest daughter to the North, to treat with Lord Cregan Stark. 
Her dreams plague her, being named mad by Queen Alicent since Daenys was but a girl. She dreams of death and fire, her only escape being her dragon Morningstar. Unexperienced in the ways of politicks, Daenys must convince the Wolf of the North to pledge his men to Queen Rhaenyra while battling her own mind.
