When she went to her balcony, their eyes met. Her breath caught for a moment, and she froze. He was still there-sitting on the bench outside her house, drenched in rain, his clothes clinging to him like shadows in the night. The wind played with his soaked hair, but his gaze was unwavering, locked on her like a lifeline. Despite the storm, he hadn't moved an inch.
She felt a pang in her chest. He should have left by now. He should have walked away when she told him to, but he hadn't. He stayed. "Why did he have to stay?" Her mind, clouded with frustration from her day, couldn't process the silent message his persistence was screaming.
She leaned against the railing, staring at him, her heart betraying her mind. The rain poured harder, and she could barely see his face clearly, but his stubborn determination glowed through the storm.
Finally, she called out, "Why are you still here?"
He stood slowly, wiping water from his eyes, though the rain kept blinding him. His voice was steady despite the cold that must have seeped into his bones. "I told you. I'm not leaving until you say yes."
