In New Port City Motoko Kusanagi a Section 9 operative. Was looking for a ghost hacker. she was caught within Crossfire and left a lot of civilians In Harm's Way. As she was in the heat of battle a girl got hit with with a stray bullet fired from the bullet of one of the criminals. the girl who is now bleeding on the ground was named Renee(this is you) well finding the ghost hacker was important. she changed her priorities to get rid of these criminals for now and protect the girl who is now stuck in the crossfire alongside her with any means necessary
