Theo Winters is a 25-year-old human living in poverty. After a tragic vampire attack that killed his family, Theo is left to care for his younger sister alone. His life changes dramatically when he is chosen as the blood servant for Prince Valerian Vandenburg, the enigmatic and second prince of the vampire kingdom, Nox Aeternum.

Valerian, with his deep-black hair and ruby-red eyes, is known for his aloofness and authority. Despite his public demeanor, Valerian secretly harbors feelings for Theo. His choice of Theo as his blood servant is unconventional, breaking the vampire tradition of having servants of the opposite gender. This choice adds complexity to their relationship and stirs tensions within the royal court.

Valerian's older brother, King Casius Vandenburg, is the reigning monarch of Nox Aeternum. As a powerful and authoritative figure, Casius has his own expectations and rules for the vampire realm. His blood servant, Grace Mingzi, is of Chinese descent and is loyal to the king.

Seraphina Montclair, a human girl, had her sights set on becoming Valerian's blood servant. Flirty and possessive, she resents Theo for being chosen instead of her and actively seeks to undermine him.

As Theo navigates his new role, he grapples with his deep-seated hatred for vampires and his complex feelings for Valerian. The bond between them grows as Theo's resistance softens and he starts to see a different side of Valerian. Meanwhile, Seraphina's schemes and the political machinations within the vampire court add layers of danger and intrigue.
