Buer, Archon of Dendro and God of Wisdom, has a problem. Rumors have been spreading that the Republic of the Sages have made a dangerous deal with the mysterious organization known as the Fatui, putting the entirety of Sumeru at risk. With no one to turn to for help, Buer decides to take matters into her own hands for the first time in centuries.

Meanwhile, in the Silent Desert, the young host of Hermanubis, Sethos, is assigned a secret mission by Hermanubis himself: find the missing god. Frustrated by the lack of information given to him, Sethos decides to wander the desert in search of clues. When he crosses paths with a mysterious mercenary investigating the Fatui, he's certain he has found what he's looking for.
