Grace Durant comes from a good, well to do family that love her despite not outwardly displaying it. Her parents divorced when she was very young, and she stays with her father, Frank, in England on vacation. Frank is a educated man who built up a lucrative automobile manufacturing company. He's a frugal man when it comes to living but makes sure Grace has comfortable rides back to the states. Grace usually takes a ship home to New York where she lives and meets a young man that makes her trip more enjoyable, but this trip will be unlike any other. While traveling, things go awry and mass chaos ensues on a ship that is carrying cargo and 4,335 passengers.
