"You know... After you're done with all your business here on this island. Would you like to, maybe, join our crew...? For real this time," he smiles, his eyes hopefully gazing at you, highlighted by the moonlight.

You look away as you can't bear to stare at his piercing eyes anymore. "I don't think I will be done before the log pose resets-" 

"I can wait!" he interrupts, letting go of your hand as quickly as he grabbed it. 
"I mean uhh... We- the crew. Me and the crew. We can wait for you," he manages to stutter out, also looking everywhere except at you. 
"This place seems pretty cool. I wouldn't mind staying here for a few more days."

You softly chuckle and blink away the tears threatening to escape your eyes. 

"We'll see," you say with a faint smile. "I mean, who else is supposed to protect you when you're halfway beaten to death?" 

Hearing his quiet, halfhearted laugh sent a striking pain through your chest. You swallow hard to keep a sob from escaping your throat as you realize this might be the last time you ever hear it.

Taking another deep breath, you muster up the courage to finally look him in the eyes. Tears are rolling down your cheeks, blurring your vision, but you still focus on the deep black eyes you've been dreaming about for the past month staring intensely back at you.

His hand gently cups your face and you lean in closer to better feel the familiar warmth from his hand tingle your skin. He carefully wipes away the tears on your cheek, not once breaking your gaze, before leaning in closer to whisper.

"I don't want to be saved by anybody else, y/n."
