Poverty in another world

Ryan Lawson was on the verge of tears. Nearly naked, the only piece of clothing that adorned the young man was a pair of maroon, brief-cut underwear. All of the possessions that he'd brought to this world with him were now gone. Apparently, getting mugged was a common occurrence here. Ryan didn't have the will to resist. Without a word of complaint, he had handed the criminal everything on his person: first his phone, then his wallet. But his mugger didn't stop there. Compared to the clothing found in this new world the clothing that he'd brought with him from Earth was of immaculate quality, even if it was from Walmart.
And just like that Ryan had lost his Nike Sneakers, black sweatpants, and XXL blue polo shirt. In less than one minute his starting gear had been reduced to the bare minimum.
