People who see Tegan and Sheriff Nick Goode together always think that they are a perfect couple that barely have any issues in their marriage; and that they are so in love with one another. Yes, in the public eye everything appears to be perfect and happy and trouble free. But that's the only image of them that Sheriff Goode wants everyone else to see. 

Behind closed doors, things are completely different. Sheriff Goode is not as nice as he makes himself appear when in public. Sheriff Goode is controlling, always keeping track of his wife's every move, making sure that she's obedient. He doesn't want her traveling to her home town of Shadyside too much; afraid that she will tell someone of their past together, and how they ended up in a marriage, where the love between the couple is only one sided.
