Penny Dreadful meets Peter Pan in this dark fantasy about death, growing up, and reclaiming lost dreams.
When a young woman casts a love spell to snare an eligible young bachelor, she mistakes Peter Pan as the spell's target and tricks him into choosing to take her to The Neverland instead of her prettier friend. Little does she know, their bargain means her death. The ISLAND OF DREAMS is a dark fantasy retelling with death gods, disability, and utopia gone wrong, perfect for fans of T. Kingfisher and Alix E Harrow.

At first glance, the island looks like paradise. Justine might be dead, but this afterlife is better than living. She spends her days playing mother to a group of boys, telling them stories, going on adventures. For the first time in her life, Justine feels like the girl she is, and she's a god's object of infatuation-even if he's a little immature.

But when Pan's estranged brother leads a gang of pirates to invade the island, bringing with them Time, which spreads in ripples across her paradise, she understands Pan will no longer love her if she ages into a woman. His offer to bond with her to create a magical barrier against the pirates is hardly a choice. Only later does she begin to understand how she has been deceived. Trapped between two immortal brothers, between passing Time and the promise of the childhood she never had, Justine must discover a power greater than both gods in order to heal the island: a power within herself.

(A Twist On Peter Pan) “I’ll kill you, you hear me? I’ll kill you!” My face was red as I fought against the ropes that bound me to one of the masts. “I’d like to see you try Alison, because you’ll fail. Peter has failed, and look at him now.” He gestured to Peter, who was on his knees and was getting punched and kicked repeatedly by a large group of pirates. “And why don’t we watch your precious Will.” He grabbed my chin and forced me to look at Will, who was suffering the same fate as Peter. “Oh and don’t forget about your dear little Lost Boys.” I heard a scream and looked at Aaron, who was being hit by a man three times his size. “Stop! He’s just a little boy, please. You have me, you have Will and even Peter; we’re whom you want. Just let them go, you’ve won.” I sighed as the wicked man grinned at me. “Very brave Alison, very brave indeed. Well men, she said let the boys go, so let them go!” He said and I went pale as I realized what I had done. “No! Stop!” I screamed but it was too late. I watched with tears in my eyes as a pirate picked up Aaron and set him on the plank. I started to thrash around in the ropes, and felt them loosen a little bit. Come on! “I never liked children.” Hook said absentmindedly as Aaron started to cry, and looked at me, and I smiled at him. “Think of the stars Aaron, think of the stars.” I whispered as his scream rang out through the boat, just as I broke through the ropes and attacked.
