Everyone assumes Viya is dead. With good reason to. Nobody survives the maze. It may be called the banishing, but it's really a death sentence.
So when Viya is sentenced to the maze, she even thinks she's going to die.
But she doesn't.
Instead she survives on scraps, all alone in the maze she uncovers the mysteries of the maze. The maze is full of secrets-and so is she, but how long can a person actually survive in the maze? Alone with only her thoughts, Viya starts to question everything: the Maze, the Grievers, and even her own mind. With no one to trust and nowhere to hide, survival is no longer the only challenge. What if the real danger has always been inside her?

Minho and Viya were best friends from the start, in the beginning they were inseparable. But when Viya is banished, the only thing he can do is watch from the sidelines.
As he runs through the maze, the only thing he can imagine is her presence, and sometimes, it feels like she's there.
