Project 36 was a spacecraft sent in the year 1990 by a group of thousands of scientists. There was no destination.
"Go. Go the furthest you can and then come back."
The point was to explore the Milky way and beyond, but after a thousand years, many forgot about that mission and thought they were all dead, except a few scientists.
Lethon was one of those few and the most dedicated one of them. He firmly believed they would come back and he was right.
On September 16th 2987, the spacecraft came back with only a young man aboard. His first impression of earth was bad, as the first man he saw, James Canes locked him up. Earth was far from what he heard in his family's stories. Things had change greatly in a thousand years, but if it was for the best or the worst, he had no idea.

Pushing off the sink in irritation, I turn to leave but he grabs my bare upper arm. My blood boils in annoyance while my skin tingles with excitement. He perks a brow, obviously sensing it. "Your aura is in disarray," he states bleakly. "Yeah, no shit Sherlock." My Earthly phrase earns me a tilt of his head and I scoff. "Where have you been, Beta?" "On a mission in the Xin Galaxy." "Okay? Would it not be wise to inform your OA of any missions that require your departure? Let go." I pull against his grip and he reluctantly lets go. "Yes, however, this mission did not require your presence nor your opinion," he replies candidly. My eye twitches and wordlessly, I turn away once more but his grip on my arm returns, this time more gentle, as if pleading rather than restraining. "I only meant that this mission did not require you to accompany me as my OA in pretence. It's safer to stay with your younglings out of sight anytime the role is not needed," his voice softer. "You disappeared after you..." I pause and shake my head. I feel embarrassed to say it out loud to him. I feel embarrassed at how much it affected me. The Day We Left Earth
If we stayed there any longer, we would have died. Earth was no longer our home, but instead a barren waste land from which we had to escape. Its calm blue oceans were replaced by big empty pits, and the green grass which used to cover our planet has now died, leaving all ground we tread on brown. The sun was getting too close to earth.
