9 year old Mira's life is perfect. Despite a lack of a mother figure, her dad is the best! When she wakes up, she's allowed to watch television. After her dad, Richardson, wakes up, they go for a walk to visit the nice old lady down the block. She only speaks French, though, so Mira never knows what she's saying. But one day, her dad starts acting... Funny. He smells weird, and isn't talking right to the lady. Is Mira's world really perfect after all?

(Book one of the Family Tree) A girl who has to act perfect with her parents. Is bullied at school for being smart. Is wiped at home for being "stupid", "dumb", "fat" and many others. Finally, she is gives a choice to ditch that life for another one, which she does instantly. Sad enough, she just got deeper into a family problem. Dead or alive, she must figure out what is real and what is not. -------------------- Amelia, a 16 year old girl trying to fit in and figure out her ancestry, before ditching it. As I leave, the cold British wind greets me. I zip up my sweater, and start walking home. Thanks to my parents, I don't have a car. "You're too irresponsible for a car, Courtney. You can always save up for one once you leave this house," my father had scoffed when I asked him. I walk at a fast pace, hoping to avoid any random strangers lurking in the dark streets. "Hey, darling. What are you doing all alone in the dark?" I hear a voice ask. I pick up his deep, British accent. I ignore him, and start jogging. Just a few more streets...
