Every individual or company intending to provide security services anywhere in India must obtain a Private Security Agency License (PSARA). According to the Private Security Agencies (Regulation) Act 2005, a license is mandatory for offering security services, whether for protecting assets or personnel. This includes security guard services, bouncer services, bodyguards, and industrial security, all of which require PSARA registration. The license for operating as a Private Security Agency can be acquired from the Controlling Authority of the State Home Ministry. It's essential to note that the PSARA License is obtained on a state-by-state basis, meaning it is valid only for the specific area or state for which the license is approved. Providing security guard or security-related services without a valid PSARA license is illegal and subject to punishment under the PSARA Act.
