Katherine Peterson has always been in the shadows, being a supposedly failed HYDRA experiment that escaped and lived homeless on the streets for years. She never had a good upbringing, sold as an infant to HYDRA by an alcoholic father, and experimented on with new undeveloped serums that she was just a lab rat for. She hid the fact that the experiments worked, giving her the power of shadow mimicry, which she later used to escape. Afterwards, she lived in the shadows of the streets of New York, pickpocketing to survive, but what about when her life flips upside down after she somehow gets on SHIELD's radar?

At age seventeen, she was sent to America for schooling, a bit more of experimenting, then finding a job at Hydra: being the Winter Soldier's caretaker. But when Steve Rogers confronted her, she realized she was in the wrong. To make up for her wrongs, she helped SHIELD, but soon, Hydra found out. Believing she got away with it, she ran, not realising that she was being watched, followed. 18 years later, she was tasked to watch over Tony Stark after he returned from being kidnapped.
