Star Brookwell is an adventure seeking 12-year-old who wants to escape her boring village, Clove. When she was six years old, her father disappeared, and was never seen again. With the Capital burned to the ground due to mysterious causes, Star has to figure out the history of her own shattered country, all while saving her own self and collecting all of the six Relics along her journey, which have fallen into the hands of the Relic Holders across the country. Are friends really friends, or are they enemies in bittersweet disguises? Who she thinks are enemies might have been in the right all along. Can Star retrieve all six Relics from their holders, or will she be too caught up in her own feelings and morals?
