In this fanfiction, "What Could Have Been," Rory Gilmore turns down Logan's proposal after realizing his vision for their future doesn't align with hers. Feeling conflicted, she reaches out to Jess Mariano, who has always challenged her in ways no one else could. They meet at his publishing house, where Rory admits that she's been running from her true feelings for Jess. As they reconnect, both realize they're ready to explore a relationship together.
