We were trying for so long to find normal that we forgot what it was. Forever we searched, we survived, we sacrificed, but in the end we had us. Us was a strange, very unlikely group of people. Their connection had crept up on them slowly, like shadows stretching at sunset, until it was impossible to deny. But now, it was all getting messy. People had started to notice-the whispered warnings, the veiled looks, the interference that threatened to tear them apart before they even had the chance to figure out what they were becoming. And that was the problem, wasn't it? They weren't just chasing each other-they were running from everything trying to keep them apart.

One night, five friends, and a serial murderer on the loose. Someone is not who they say they are. Someone is hunting them in plain sight. They thought they could escape. They thought they were invincible. They don't know that they're already dead.

It was all fun and games until we made the biggest mistake that changed us forever.

I was drowning. I knew that. I also knew that the hands around my throat, pushing me deeper into the river water was the cause. What I didn't know was who was drowning me and why. It hurt thinking. It hurt to do anything right now. But I still screamed under the cold water and pushed the hands away as hard as I could. It didn't have much effect. I fought and fought, but I was getting weaker, and colder. The pain was overbearing. I couldn't breathe. It was the worst pain imaginable; and as the hands that were around my neck were forcibly ripped off by some unknown force, I slipped deeper into the depths of the river. My hair was straight above me along with my arms. My eyes were open and the water burned. A darkness started to pull me under, taking the pain away. I felt a small pressure around my waist, before the darkness completely consumed me. The last thing I remember is thinking, save me.

It's crazy how we meet someone and then bam were head over heels for them and we let go. But what happens when we don't truly know what kind of person we've just gone and fallen in love with. What happens when you realize nothing's really as it seems and some things are better left alone. What happens when you have to let go for your sake and your lovers. What happens when you learn that love is just a dangerous game. Not safe for those with weak hearts and minds. What then?
