I watch Tav as she strides through camp, her fiery red hair flowing around her shoulders, sunlight glistening off her golden breastplate. She is strong, determined, and brave. The whole camp love her, the men tripping over themselves to be close to her, ready to follow her into battle at a moments notice. She is beautiful, the epitome of grace.... What a bitch I shake my head, ashamed at my petty thoughts. Jealousy has always been a weakness of mine. But I cannot help but compare myself to Tav, everything I am not. Surely there was a mistake? Cursed with vampirism and desperate for freedom, Astarion journeys through a world teetering on the edge of ruin. Amidst shifting alliances, ancient evils, and temptations of power, he must decide if he'll reclaim his autonomy with grace-or carve it out through blood. Baldur's Gate 3, nor any of the characters belong to me. They belong to Larian Studios and the cast of Baldur's Gate 3. I decided to write my narrative of my origin Astarion run, while being completely in-character for him, and making decisions that are all his own. Please enjoy!
As the Ash Settles
As the Ash Settles, is my take on what happens to the group of companions after saving Baldur's Gate. As the ash settles and the drinks are pouring a familiar sensation washes over our Tav, the very same one that compelled her to attack poor Alfira in her slumber, perhaps defeating her sister was not just denying her father but in fact taking back her rightful spot as leader of the Bhaalspawn, perhaps Withers was indeed wrong. Questions left unanswered while still having to find a special artifact for Astarion to walk and in the sun and still beating heart to fear Karlach. Rated M for Mature. The search for Vellioth's Ring
One year has passed since the battle against the Nether Brain. After spending time away on a quiet retreat, Yzabella returns to Baldur's Gate to find Astarion residing in Cazador's former mansion. Amidst the dust and shadows of his old tormentor's lair, Astarion uncovers a forgotten book once belonging to Cazador's own master-Vellioth. Within its brittle pages lies mention of a powerful artifact: a ring hidden away by Vellioth himself, crafted to grant its wearer the impossible, the freedom for a vampire to walk beneath the sun. For Astarion, it represents everything he's ever longed for: the chance to live without fear of the dawn, and perhaps, the hope of a more normal life by Yzabella's side. Astarion's gaze cuts to mine, sharp at first and then softening around the edges. "I'm a monster," he whispers with a shake of his head. "I've lured countless people to their deaths. Innocents."
