AIM has managed to access Kang's time travel technology and is planning to go back in time to prevent the Avengers from ever coming together. 

But the Avengers have learned of the operation and were planning to stop them. But things didn't exactly go as planned, and the Avengers find themselves stuck in the past, and now they risk the fate of all time if they don't stop AIM from changing the past. Luckily they found a few friends.
