Lydia Carter follows her troublesome upbringing to illegal street racing and gambling on such, as run by the modern-day mafia in Chicago. She isn't quite sure how she found herself racing in an underground mafia rig, but it's hard to ask questions when her bills are paid and her car maintenance is free.

The racing bracket eventually pairs her against Harry Styles: an undefeated racer. When Lydia breaks his streak, she becomes far more involved in the mafia than she had planned- becoming a bounty and digging through clues to find out who is after her with Harry, who seems oddly suspicious through all of it but is trying to win her trust.
