In the world of Chromira, emotions are expressed through vibrant, flowing watercolors that fill the air and blend with the environment. Everyone in the city paints their feelings in brilliant, ever-changing hues-everyone, except Erica. Unlike the others, Erica is made of oil pastel, her dark, sharp edges unmoving and unblended in a world of soft, flowing colors. She keeps herself distant, afraid to mix with the vibrant emotions she can never express.
Then she meets Alex, a boy whose emotions spill out in radiant watercolors. Alex is drawn to Erica's quiet strength and believes that even though their worlds don't mix, they can still share something beautiful. He takes her on a journey through the heart of the city, hoping to show her the joy and love she's been hiding from. As Erica ventures outside her comfort zone, subtle shifts of color begin to emerge in her oil pastel form, mirroring the emotions she's starting to feel.
This is a story of two unlikely people who become friends, then fall in love, despite their differences. As they navigate their contrasting worlds, they learn that love isn't about blending in-it's about embracing who you are and finding connection, even in the sharpest lines and softest colors.

Nyx Davis is a 15-year-old biracial, student-athlete, exploring life with her friends, Matteo, Viv, Kaylee, and Chris. Along with her brothers Denzel and Theodore. She begins her journey of self-discovery with her sexuality, identity, love life and mental wellbeing. High school isn't as romantic as movies play it out to be, but Nyx finds herself falling in love with people she'd never imagine. She maneuvers around the world within a community and school that has little to no diversity, along with stereotypes and racist ideology that seems to be at her every turn. On top of it all, her friend group seems to drift away from each other causing her to spiral with her thoughts because when it comes to those around you there are times where you think you really know someone but that's not always the case. New friendships arise and so does romance. Tension with her academics becomes more overwhelming than what she expected. Life is taking many turns, not just with her own life but with those around her as well. Read as everyone explores their own life secrets that they have kept in the dark from those around them. I may just be a girl. No one special. Nothing compared to others. In the eyes of the universe, I am just a little speck of dust. My light may not shine very bright, and it may not be of any use, but I am me. Writing is my only escape out of this world. I cry rivers of ink and climb mountains of words.
