8 parts Ongoing MatureEshani Bajpai and Siddhartha Dutta were destined to be together, their engagement was decided even before their birth. But for the past 22 years, they've never seen eye to eye. Every meeting ended in a fight, leading everyone to believe that their engagement would inevitably be called off. Everyone, that is, except Eshani's steadfast grandmother.
Siddhartha POV:
"Why do you hate me and my family? What did we ever do to you?" I ask, frustration lacing my voice.
"Why... and what, you ask? Don't try to act innocent, you fucking bastard," she shouts, her voice cracking with anger. "I wasted two years of my life because of your family. Every one of you Duttas is just greedy for power and money, willing to do anything, even hurt innocent people."
I look at Eshani her eyes are bloodshot, tears threatening to spill, but she won't let them. She would rather die than cry in front of me-that's how much she hates me.
I stand still as I watch her walk away. Why is my heart aching? Why... why does it hurt so bad to see her sad? I slam my fist into the wall, desperate to feel some kind of pain, but nothing works. Her tears make me numb. Why?
"Eshani," I call out, and she stops in her tracks. "I don't know your reason for hating the Dutta family, and I know you wouldn't believe me, but..." Why am I even bothering? She means nothing to me. The frustration boils within me. Why damn it?
"Your hate for the Dutta family is not something that sets us apart but something that we have in common."
