In an alternate reality where Buffy sacrificed herself for Dawn without coming back to life, the young Mia Templeton, a witch-in-training, is assigned custody of Dawn Summers. One night, while Mia shares the stars with Spike, sitting on the steps of her new home, she sees a threatening shadow lurking in the night-one that seems to be visible only to her. To protect her new family and friends, the one they call the Daughter of Light must accept her new responsibilities and embrace her destiny, which is much more supernatural and magical than she expected.
