Something is wrong. Draco Malfoy feels it with every step he takes through the chilly corridors of Malfoy Manor. The shadows seem longer, the whispers closer, and the weight of a secret drags through the rooms. The nights are restless, filled with echoes he can't place, while hazy memories hover at the edge of his consciousness. 

There are looks he doesn't understand, unspoken gestures, and a silent tension that no one dares mention. His parents speak to him as if they are always on the verge of revealing something terrible, but they hold back as if silence is the only thing protecting them. Draco wonders if they know what is happening to him. 

And then there is Harry. Always him, always there in the moments when reality distorts the most. Draco doesn't know if it is a coincidence, a twist of fate, or something more. Potter's gaze pierces his defences, challenges him, and at the same time offers a strange comfort that Draco cannot explain. There is something between them that has never been said, but that pulses in the shadows, something that pulls him closer, even when he wants to run away. Maybe Harry sees what no one else sees. Or maybe he is just another piece of the puzzle that is forming around him.

Draco panicked. He did not know where he was, only that he was nowhere close to home. Just one night he goes to sleep uneasily in the Malfoy Manor dreading the next day as he was scheduled to take the Dark Mark, the next he wakes up sopping wet in a small frontal garden in a time that, seeing the horridly outdated architecture, is not his, and unable to say anything when asked where is parents are except 'gone'. He doesn't know how he got to some older time and he doesn't really want to know. Maybe it is Fate fucking with him again. Would be typical. Last thing he knew his Father was at the Ministry and his Mother was locked in her room, both likely to die when Father came back...so who knew? It is the 1940s, as he soon learns, and dread creeps in. Stuck going to Hogwarts for his sixth year, with nothing more than his name and trying to fend off the curious looks and stares as a Malfoy seems to pop up out of nowhere, Draco does not know what he is going to do. Voldermort rose in Draco Malfoy's 3rd. At the end of the year. They did not know why or how or what happened. They had been attempting it, Draco knew despite his father's tight lips. Yet, the process had not gone as planned. It was the soul from the diary that had returned, not the 20-odd year old that they had been expecting. This came with...complications. Tom Riddle was 16. Ideally, he would go to hogwarts in order to recruit those that would remain loyal to only him. Sure he had the remnants that his older self had recruited, but Tom did not know them, and furthermore, he doubted the viability of many of them. So he uses them, but he wants more loyal followers, and as such he needs to go to Hogwarts. Quite a decent foundation for such things. Using the young Draco Malfoy, molding him, grooming him, he would fool Albus Dumbledore, gain access to Hogwarts, and then he would begin his recruitment process. If he found his mate, became a bit too attached (obsessed) , and started another feud, well all part of the process he supposed. There were other issues as well. With Remus Lupin, the werewolf, still teaching, and the favoritism amongst the students, they had some work to do, but it was nothing Tom couldn't handle.
