Adrian is a fallen angel on punishment from Heaven due to their bad behavior and criminal record. So imagine the struggle when they realize that the sentence is much worse than they thought.
When a reaper gets redeemed into Heaven, the Heavenly citizens realize that they are much harder to handle than any other good citizen. So as punishment, the reaper-angel is sent down to earth with a sentence.
But Adrian's miserable sentence doesn't turn out as envisioned and they end up finding love, much to the dismay of the Heavenly council. So it is left up to Adrian to defend their honor, their new boyfriend, and the dignity of Heaven.
