A year away surely couldn't be such a long time, if anything, her life should be the exact same when she returns... Well that is if everyone didn't move on with their lives without her, that is if she didn't suffer a great loss and if her friend didn't find other people to hang out with. So yes, when she returns she finds exactly that. Everyone's moved on, time doesn't stop, and neither can you, best she can do is just try to fit into her new life that has been rearranged for her... that is all she can do in the end, even when her best friend's new friends make that hard for her, even when old friends returned makes that uncomfortable, and even when she has to admit that she might not be in the right like she likes to believe.

Lucas

His life was finally fitting back together, he was finally at some sort of peace, but of course he can't have that. Of course she has to return. Of course she has to open up old wounds and bring up the past; bring up the feelings he so deeply buried beneath the ground. He tries his hardest to ignore her, to avoid her, to even hate her, but she doesn't seem to falter. She won't give up, wont leave him alone until he forgives her and admits to her what made them fall so far apart.
