Every now and then, the gang actually does what Wolfgang WANTS to do... not what he NEEDS to do. 
This lovely little jaunt to the catacombs of Paris is just one of those fun little adventures! That, of course, goes horribly wrong, all Hell breaks loose, and Wolfgang finds himself trapped under Paris in a flooding part of the catacombs. 

This is, naturally, why you don't carry out underground expeditions into unknown, unchartered, and extremely dangerous and highly illegal areas of said catacombs filled with corpses. 
Hence, his wonderful companions; Abigor, a demon from hell who kinda, sorta happens to be a vampire also. 

Due to an unfortunate event ending in an escape from hell in a golf cart. And, the love of his life, Gilles des Rais. 
The prolific and artistic French child rapist, murderer, failed alchemist, Necromancer, and fantastic guitar player of the 14th century. 
Who better to spend the rest of your somewhat immortal life with, no?
