All Ren wants is to be left alone.
    After withdrawing ten years ago to leave someone-- or something-- behind, Ren has lived alone in her cabin. Nobody to see her. Nobody to talk to her. Nobody to use her. But when a strange girl shows up at her doorstep and refuses to leave, Ren is forced to come back into life and face the world she left behind-- for better or worse.

    Twelve years old with only her lute and the clothes on her back, Piya Nightclaw is a young bard with a big voice. She's going to make her name known, and going on huge adventures is the perfect way to do it! Unfortunately, her skill won't take her far if nobody will give her a chance. But she's gotten as far as she has by being good at what she does and refusing to listen to naysayers, and she's not about to stop. When she finds her way to a grizzled old woman living in the woods, she's thrilled-- a retired adventurer! And she's going to mentor Piya whether she likes it or not!

After being captured by siren hunters and saved by a small adventuring party, he ends up traveling with them, hoping to reach a city where he can finally be protected. But the past has a way of creeping back in... Has he really escaped what he ran away from? And what happens if his past comes for his new companions?
    
    For fans of Dungeons and Dragons and other fantasy RPGs, Starsong is the story of a rag-tag party from wildly different lives, brought together by a search for stability and life.
