There's nothing more dangerous than a book, especially in the wrong hands. And, in this world of magic, wars and an alarming number of self-serving, gratuitously selfish people, there are a lot of wrong hands to take advantage.

When the world's foremost mage, Anpound Pudbatter (fresh from a magical accident that had turned him back into a teenager with all the associated raging hormones) meets Gammer Goodhiding, the world's most polite, yet indefinably terrifying witch, and Bindi, a Druid who almost has a filthy mouth, they come together to search for an object that could very well spell the end of the world as they know it. Or change it in ways they cannot imagine.

From the intermittently high Mount Pintel, to the vast, unending Library, to the indeterminately located city of Lost Vagueness, where hope, and Coin, go to wallow in despair, to the world's most important, prominent, and tiniest city, the three of them must follow the magical chaos wrought by the presence of the book. And with warlords bent on conquest, thieves out for a quick score and a djinn with a mischievous attention to detail in the way, things may not go quite according to plan.

And what, exactly, is the origin of the book? Only The Archivist's All-knowing Almanac knows for sure.

A love-letter to the works of Terry Pratchett and Douglas Adams.

Smack-dab, in the Middle of Nowhere (Waste Stories #1) by DuncanPPacey
52 parts Complete Mature
Free on Wattpad for the first time! In 2017, Duncan P. Pacey's debut post-apocalyptic comedy novel brought a gritty-yet-silly wasteland New Zealand to Amazon Kindle, and now you can enjoy it here. ~~Amazon/Goodreads reviews:~~ "Pratchetty humour with a hack n slash edge." "I absolutely loved Pacey's humor and his descriptions of this tongue-in-cheek twisted world!" "The odd characters are strangely engaging and what seems like a cracked narrative, cleverly comes together to tell a fascinating tale." * * * "Bert'd be damned if this bar did anything other than thrive. Smack-dab would prosper, or she'd shoot folk until it did." Bert is the takes-no-crap bar owner of Smack-dab, a struggling tavern halfway from nowhere to nowhere else. All around her is the barren, post-apocalyptic Waste, a terrifying place plagued by villainous bandits, ravenous monsters, and Things that go bump in the night (and also eat you). The Waste is in turmoil. Lord Ash has been overthrown, replaced by a terrifyingly powerful giant hell-bent on taxing anyone and everyone that can help fund his devious master plan. Smack-dab is threatened with total destruction, but Bert has a plan of her own. Can she rally enough help to fend off the bandits? Strange and hilarious, "Smack-dab, in the Middle of Nowhere" is the fresh new face of the post-apocalypse, even if that face has more creepy mutant eyes than you expected.

"Yes, I am!!!" Kaede leans down to her ear his hot breath tickling her cheek in a tantalizing way, as swooping butterflies made way to her stomach. "I see. But that doesn't change the fact that you're a idiotic female, who will only serve as a distraction." The fluttering butterflies froze in her stomach and spiraled into icy icicles, as fury wraped tightly around her mind. "Indeed, I am a girl. But I'm also an idiotic girl who will follow you anyway. Even if her insufferable bodyguard says no." Emoriah, whispers threateningly. Kaede's dark penetrating gaze burns Emoriah to her core, as he peers down on her frame with a hardened expression upon his face. "You're playing a losing game Emoriah. But very well come. It seems I have no other choice." Emoriah smiles behind her hand before lifting her eyes to meet his stormy gaze. "No, you really don't." .. Emoriah isn't just an average 15-year-old girl. The Last Knights of Cambria Book 1: Echoes of Gideon by kullman
16 parts Complete
Gideon Saint is dying for something exciting to happen in his life. With his love of history, he figures an internship at the museum has to be a good start, right? Anything is better than listening to his parents argue or sitting alone in his room doing research no one but him seems to care about. A chance encounter with a magical ring leaves him transported to an alternate version of ancient Wales, or as it was sometimes called, Cambria. 1432 Wales, to be exact. Here magic is the most powerful weapon of all as kings vie for power. Good thing Gideon's teleportation from the present has also left him with the ability to use magic, and he's quickly regarded as a powerful wizard. In this timeline, Wales maintained it's independence, but that's about to change. Henry V is on the throne of the England, and the greatest warrior king England has ever had has set his sights on Wales. Can Gideon help save his newfound friends and master his new powers, while living a double life in the 21st century? Ahem, living people die, dying people live, Henry V is here and he's awesome despite being the main antagonist, everybody is vaguely gay, swords are described in loving detail, people are not, lovely platonic friendships, did we mention swords? Yes, you may learn something about history, but that's a risk you'll have to take. Basically, think of this as a Percy Jackson type of adventure, but it's historical fiction instead of Greek gods. The narrator is 15 and the major supporting characters are 14, 17, and 19. That said, there's nothing in the way of content that's inappropriate for a younger reader. As always if you're not here to go on a fun little adventure find a different story. Trigger/Content: very mild language, some magic violence, fantasy violence. Self-harm is briefly discussed. Adoption issues are discussed as well as brief scenes of a abusive family. Characters briefly mention crushes and or dating, no real innuendos.
The Dark Heir (SHORTLIST - Open Novella Contest 2019) by HM_Braverman

**Featured on DARK FANTASY and ADULT FICTION reading lists** WARNING: EATING OR DRINKING WHILE READING THIS STORY IS HIGHLY INADVISABLE. Once Upon A Time, Good Omens, Monty Python, and Arrested Development had a back-alley three-way and birthed a fairytale. Gerald wasn't supposed to be stuck living seven centuries in the future. He definitely wasn't supposed to be "mentoring" The Dark Lord's progeny in the hopes that she would decide to save the world rather than destroy it. In fact, he wasn't even supposed to be named Gerald (the name of every other male in his family for three hundred years), because everyone assumed a weak-chinned, balding, forgettable man, who was just a magician, could never be who Geraldo The Foreshadower prophesied. But that's what assuming gets you, and here he was saddled with a fate he never asked for, in a time he didn't know, surrounded by people he didn't want to like, and he was out of Firewine AGAIN! The Dark Heir is a darkly satirical tale of assumptions, anti-heroes, and apocalypses, where the road to hell is actually a themed water-park slide covered in slightly less urine than a real one. It drops literary and film references faster than an NYC socialite drops names, and promises endless laughs - including, but not limited to, sad chuckles, guffaws, uncontrollable giggles at inappropriate moments, brays, barks, cackles, snorts, cachinnations, and the occasional howl (though that may be the Welsh Werewolves showing up unannounced). Consider yourself warned... Reviews: "Completely and adorably bonkers," says @floranocturna "Hilarious in every way. Even when I cringed, I laughed," says @LadySapphire2018 Winner of The Trident Awards

Bloody Potter! (Harry Potter X Hogwarts Legacy Crossover) by Echo_Aphelion
2 parts Ongoing
Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy get unexpectedly transported to the time of Hogwarts Legacy in a potions accident! They then find themselves with the strange power to see ancient magic and set on a quest to solve the mystery of the past and maybe even stop a goblin rebellion... Don't ask me how, I don't know, this is a fanfic. (Harry and Draco are from sixth year) "Bloody Potter!" Draco shouts as the cauldron the two of them were sharing begins rapidly bubbling and drips over the edge. "I didn't do anything!" The brunette next to him fires back. "Well, you've obviously done something!" Draco continues as the liquid reaches the desk and, before either of them know it, explodes. As the smoke clears Draco coughs and sways on his feet, faintly noticing the now missing desk. Potter also stood stumbling next to him and Draco instinctively grabbed his shoulder to stabilize him. "Um, what just happened?" Potter stammers as he reorients himself. "You added too many dragon scales to the cauldron, that's what!" Draco spits out at his fellow sixth year. "I know that!" Potter shouts, "I meant where the bloody hell we are!" Draco blinks at the statement and finally takes a moment to look around. They seemed to be in a hidden alleyway made of mostly cobblestone with a carriage sitting on the slightly damp stone street. "I... don't know," Draco finally muttered. The place seemed to be eerily familiar but he just couldn't put his finger on it. Just a snippit! >;) May or may not start shipping, depends on what the people want! ;)

Five Star Reviews for Atlantis Academy: "Omg this book was amazing I couldn't put it down or stop reading. I carried it with me open on my phone while I did everything just to keep reading. I need more of all of this. Epic story, epic content, epic visuals, just epic. LOVE THIS!" "Once I got into this story, I did not stop reading it. This is a beautiful story about a very awkward girl who is riven with so much pain and angst and yet... this makes her who she is and shapes her into the person she will become. The world she finds herself awakened to is magical and yet filled with the all-too-familiar cliques and tribes of the very human people who inhabit it. One word to describe the story: beautiful!" "The story pulls you headlong to the end and leaves you wanting to shout "No! Not yet!" ...If there were 6 stars, I would have given it that." *** Humanity is one secret society away from extinction. The children of Atlantis use magic to keep us safe. If they make it through the Academy. Hi, I'm Lyric. And I'm kind of a mess. ADHD, that's me. I'm a high school drop-out, late everywhere I go, and one screw-up away from being homeless. I'm a loner, and I like it that way. Who needs friends when you have a Redwood forest nearby? Trees never bully me like the kids did at school. Or get drunk and throw things at my head. After my mom died, I figured life couldn't get much worse. I thought it might even get better. Ha. The universe has a great sense of humor. I should've listened to the rumors about evil spirits. About the angry, ancient magical creatures haunting our small Oregon Coast town. But did I? No. That was my first mistake. And it might be my last. 'Cause now I'm in a battle for my life. A whole new world has opened up... a magical world I don't understand. And the blood in my veins says I belong here. But I have to prove myself to save myself. And when have I ever done that?

The first book of the Darkwater Saga Being edited A simple decision can cause a massive ripple in the pond of Time. In the case of Kington Lewis, a twenty-something-year-old man working as a librarian in New York City, it was the decision to chase a dragon hiding in his library. This leads to him meeting the last living Atlantean, who's being hunted by a man determined to erase all magic from the world and find the key to immortality. Dragged along on the Atlantean's quest to Norway, Kingston discovers all sorts of magic. Wrestling with their own internal turmoils as well as the one at hand, they race to stop the literal embodiment of death from destroying the world. And, well, everything goes downhill from there, especially when Kingston finds out that there's more to Griffith than meets the eye. -- Cover created by Midjourney, prompt for cover by me
