Brooklyn Pines was a 22 year old low paid, beaten down waitress in New York City. "Where dreams happen!" Or is that Disney... Most of her time was spent in her crappy apartment that always smelled like cigarette smoke with the walls torn down. Besides the crazy NYC life full of screaming cab drivers and slutty hookers roaming around, there was one place where she could go to relax. She'd go to her old swing set that she went to as a child ,a block away from her apartment to ease herself. Let's just say, lots happen at that swing set.

I can't bring myself to recognize the girl I'm staring at. Through her glassy eyes you can see that she's no foreigner to pain, whether physically, emotionally or mentally. Her hard expression warns people that she doesn't take their shit. But, her friends are the only ones to help her unravel and step out of the room that's trapped her with all her struggles and pains; they get her through all her enigma. They are all she needs. I stare at this girl, and I see myself. I see someone who is strong and determined, someone who needs to love herself and believe that she can be loved. The tears roll down my cheeks as I realize that 'this girl' is Amiane Alana Rochester, a girl who's been through a shit-load of fuckery. * In medicine pain relates to a sensation that hurts. If you feel pain it hurts, you feel discomfort, distress and perhaps agony, depending on the severity of it. Pain can be steady and constant, in which case it may be an ache. It might be a throbbing pain - a pulsating pain. The pain could have a pinching sensation, or a stabbing one. To Amiane, pain is all of the above. Can she handle any of it? I've been very depressed and heartbroken so, what better than to create a story out of it? "This is my life" details a protagonist going through her teenage years up until the age of 21. Through love, friendship, grief, and heartbreak, you will get to witness what it's like being a young black girl trying to conquer the world. I hope anyone going through either heartbreak, grief, insecurities, mental health declines are able to read this and know that they're not alone! Life can be so ugly at times, but I promise things always get better. Not your typical romance or teen fiction book! Well, It was different for me while others were enjoying life I was home too afraid to even look out the window. I was having nightmares, waking up screaming and sobbing. I was being told things that made me feel stressed, useless, and dirty overall unloved. This all changed in one night, it took just that one night for my life to be over but at the same time for it to start a new. Mila Silva turned 18 years old a year ago and works in the kitchen with her mom at the packhouse and when Mila at school her mom works at a Diner that is near the freeway. While working one night when her mom stay home because she wasn't feeling well. That night she works with another cook at the packhouse. Mila never saw this coming from him, that night she took a tray of snacks to his room. He wasn't supposed to be there but he was and he's been drinking she can smell the alcohol on him. What he did next was wrong, he took her innocence. She wanted to scream for help, but he threatens her if she did he would kill her mom. She never thought he would do this to her, she has known him since they were kids, she went to school with him, had a crush on him when she was 13 yrs old. About a year ago he started treating her like shit in front of his friends. Mila ran home after he passed out, she then walks into the room she shared with her mom. She turned the TV on a little loud, she didn't want others to hear what she was about to tell her mom "What's wrong Mila?" her mom asked looking confused and sad because she can tell that her daughter is hurting. She told her mom what happened to her and then her mother held her tight as they both cried because what he did to her. The next day Mila and her Mom were gone.....Terminé
