Tyler Skelton thought his life in Union City was tough enough with his no-nonsense mother and a growing list of errands. But everything changes when he unexpectedly inherits the powers and memories of Captain Tōshirō Hitsugaya, a long-dead Soul Reaper from the Gotei 13.

As Union's heroes fall one by one, Tyler must tap into Hitsugaya's power to protect his city and face off against untold numbers of enemies. Along the way, he struggles with his own identity, Hitsugaya's influence, and the expectations from those around him-including his mother, who once served alongside the former captain.
