in contrast to the majority of schools in the country, this one is pretty much the opposite.
no rules and the headmistress is known as a gentle and supportive woman.
compated to pretbury academy, the lake view institute for boys is a nightmare.
the principal is known as the devil himself.
rules, rules and even more rules.
being a single minute late gets punished with detention.
ignoring the strict rules -most boys like to ignore- one night a few boys sneak out and break into the pretbury academy.
when the girls see the boys' antics, there is only one way for this to continue.

Albert Beckett was forced to move to his grandfather's backwater town to live for a year while his parents were traveling for work, and while it seems like a boring sleepy town, things aren't so cozy. The people are curious and overly friendly, and the weird town myth that has a hundred different varieties weighs heavy on his heart. The old closed highway behind town and the off-road that none of his friends will walk bring him nightmares of a women with dark hair. The mysteries of this town and whatever strange events that occurred all those years ago seem to be pulling him in, and the house at the end of that off-road that was supposed to be abandoned holds the one thing that he wasn't expecting to find, who quickly grows to be the one thing he doesn't want to lose. ~Story is complete, but not edited, originally written in 2021 for the National Novel Writing Month challenge~Complete

Desdemona ''Des'' Winchester wants nothing to do with Melliford Academy. In fact, she's pretty sure her parents shipped her off to boarding school just to get her out of their hair. It's a move they'll come to regret if she has any say in the matter. Nothing humiliates posh folk like having a daughter sent home from the country's most esteemed educational institution. Just flunking class isn't dramatic enough, though. Des plans to get booted in the most spectacular manner possible, just to make sure her parents' social circle will never let them live it down. Her scheming, unfortunately, encounters three roadblocks within the first week of class. The first: Exie Quinnell, teacher's pet, whip-smart, and unreasonably attractive. Neither girl intended to end up on a project together, but their teacher deemed Des in need of a little... remediation. The second: There are things about Melliford Academy that none of the teachers will talk about, even when pressed. Things that should be easy answers. Plan B
Plan A might have been just as dangerous as the police insisted it was safe. It involved being locked away, out of sight and communication, and didn't solve the problem that Fran's stalkers seemed to have access to police files and data. Plan B the police didn't know about, and while the stalkers were at least temporarily out of the picture, it posed other problems. The police are now searching for her. Her stalkers are still looking for her. Her roommate doesn't know she's not a boy and a depressed teen movie star wants to be her friend. Being found out would blow her safety. Not to mention that the country thinks she might just be the victim -- or the cause -- of a spate of murders in the surrounding towns. Going to Darkwood private school was a risk, but not as risky as Plan A. The worry of trying to keep herself hidden from her schoolmates might become her main problem, but it still doesn't answer the most worrying question of all: just who were those stalkers, and what did they want? -- (Just so you all know, I've entered this book for the Hotkey Young Writers Prize.
