Ever since the new breed of humans known as immortal beings became more apparent in the recant society, those who weren't immortal let their envy take over. With non-immortal humans on the top, immortals were placed in facilites where they were put into gruesome experiements in order to see how much the immortal body can take and is its possible to use them as weapons.

For people like Claude, there seemed to be no hope, especially with her own scars and moody demeanor pushing people in the facility away. Even her own people. The only thing that is keeping her going is her plan to escape the North facility and runaway to the West, the only sanctuary for immortal beings.

Though, when she meets Marigold inside the facility as well, she may have a lot more that she cares for as she tries to get the both of them out of the claws of the new world's aggressive envy and hatred towards their kind while she also feels herself long for Marigold more and more than she had bargained for.
