"The world was on fire and no one could save me but you
It's strange what desire will make foolish people do
I never dreamed that I'd meet somebody like you
And I never dreamed that I'd lose somebody like you" Wicked Game - Chris Isaak
Set in the Outer Banks, this story follows Katherine Smith, a pogue born and raised on the island, as she navigates the divide between the rich and the working class. Katherine is part of a tight-knit group of friends-JJ, John B, Kiara, and Pope-who've grown up together and have always had each other's backs. As the pogues deal with the usual drama of life on the island, things start to shift when John B begins dating Sarah Cameron, a kook from the wealthier side of the island.
At first, Katherine and the pogues aren't sure what to make of Sarah, but soon she and Katherine form a close bond, becoming best friends. However, as Katherine spends more time in Sarah's world, she finds herself unexpectedly drawn to Rafe Cameron, Sarah's brother and the so-called "kook king." This forbidden attraction forces Katherine to grapple with her identity as a pogue, her loyalty to her friends, and the complicated feelings she has for someone from the very world she's always been told to hate.
Throughout the story, Katherine faces tough choices about love, loyalty, and the ever-present divide between pogues and kooks. It's a story about friendship, forbidden romance, and figuring out where you truly belong in a world that's split in two.

IN WHICH, Lucy Jones and Rafe Cameron began dating with the approval of both their parents and everyone on the island but their relationship wasn't as perfect as it was to the naked eye.
One December, Rafe quit college and became a drug addict due to his father's neglect which caused him to become violent.
But, the teen girl loved him unconditionally because she couldn't handle to lose anyone else.
A love like this was very dangerous. A love where the guy knew that no matter what he did she'd stay. A love where they would kill for each other. A love where they were too blinded by fantasizing about their future they couldn't even see each others flaws.
So, what happens when the fantasizing stops and reality hits with a swoop of a bullet?
