Wesley St. James, a top-tier wide receiver for the Dallas Cowboys, has everything a man could want and more, including two Super Bowl rings, a 140 million dollar contract, and an attractive woman to lose himself in when the pressure gets to be too much.

Unfortunately, with great highs come even greater lows, and the world Wesley finds himself on top of is yanked from under his feet when he's met with the devastating news that his mother is actively dying. In an attempt to keep her close while also trying to come to grips with the situation, he convinces her to uproot her life and move into his home so he can provide a helping hand during her difficult transition to hospice care. The task proves to be more than Wesley can mentally handle, and with the football season on the horizon, he is forced to hire a caregiver for an extra set of hands.

Enter Serene Vaughn, a Philly native with a whole lot of baggage. New to Dallas, she's desperate to escape her past and find her footing in the city. When she secures a job with an in-home care agency, the last thing she expects is to be assigned a client who's related to a future Hall of Famer.

Despite her initial shock, Serene and Wesley quickly fall into a seamless rhythm. But as work hours stretch out into days and days bleed into months, a bond neither of them expected begins to form, throwing everything off tempo. Between unspoken words, longing looks, lingering touches, and the realization that tomorrow is never promised, Serene wonders if she was in over her head when she accepted the job all those months ago.
