Jayla discovers she has feelings for her best friend and learns the feelings are mutual after a drunken night. However, their relationship falls apart as they realize they hurt each other too much and decide to remain friends.

Behind the scenes, Jayla hides her struggles with abuse, self-harm, bipolar disorder, and depression. Overwhelmed, she runs away after discovering she's three months pregnant, leaving Jamaica without telling anyone-not even her three closest friends.

Two years later, Jayla returns to Jamaica, still battling her inner demons. She avoids reconnecting with her past, but it eventually catches up to her. Accepting this, she allows her child to meet their father, fearing she'd been selfish by keeping them apart.

Tragically, Jayla is killed by her child's father's enemies, who exploit his love for his baby as a weakness.
