Aurora Chamberlain has had a pretty hard life. When she was five her parents were killed in a house fire set by a werewolf hunter who was tracking them. Aurora was able to get out of the house, but unfortunately her parents didn't make it.
She was soon found by Sheriff Stilinski, who found Aurora sitting on the ground holding her stuffed Rabbit and rocking back and forth, watching the house burn down.
Soon after the fire, Aurora was placed in a foster home, seeing as she had no other family to take her in. But Sheriff Stilinski having taking an interest in the girl, visited her very day to make sure she was ok. When it was decided that no family was going to come forward and take her in, Noah decided to adopt her and make her a part of his family.
When he brought her home, she was instantly introduced to Stiles, the sheriff's son, who was instantly protective of her. She was soon introduced to Scott, Stiles' best friend and the three of them become inseparable.
Now twelve years later, and Aurora is happy, healthy and living her life, trying to put the past behind her. But when her best friend finds himself drawn into the life that destroyed her, she is determined to help him in learning to navigate his new world.
Then she meets Derek Hale, a brooding Sour-Wolf with an attitude problem. But as she gets to know him, she starts to realize that they have more in common than they ever thought.
And as her feelings for Derek grow, she also comes face to face with the women who destroyed her family twelve years ago.
Now she has to figure out which path she want to choose: the path for revenge on the family of Hunters who killed her parents or the path of moving on and falling in love and leaving the past in the past.
But sometimes the easiest path isn't always the easy one and that you sometimes have to make mistakes in order to learn from them.
