A heavy silence settled, thick like fog, weighing down everything around you. He rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly, trying to mask his bitterness with a smile-one you couldn't see. "No one?" he chuckled, the sharpness in his voice betraying his amusement. The thought itself was laughable to him. "That would defeat the whole purpose of being the strongest."
For a moment, you both sat in the fading light of the setting sun, the sound of waves crashing rhythmically against the shore. "I'll do it."
Gojo snapped his head toward you, disbelief clouding his expression. Had he imagined those words? A blind girl, of all people, promising to protect him-the honored one?
You opened your misty eyes, turning toward him with fierce determination. "I said, I'll do it."
