"It all started with stealing glimpses of each other"
In a quiet town of Brookville, far from the blinding light of Hollywood , life carries on as usual-until the world's biggest superstar arrives to film his latest music video. Michael Jackson, longing for a brief escape from the suffocating grip of fame, slips into the rhythm of the small town, finding solace in the simplicity of it all.
Jasmine Williams, 25, a local café worker, lives a very ordinary life. She has heard of him-of course everyone has. But in the hushed warmth of the café, he's not the King of Pop. He's just a man searching for peace from a world that never stops watching. And for some reason, he keeps coming back. Every morning, every evening-there he is, sitting quietly at his corner table, a man of a few words but countless stolen glimpses.Over time, they develop a quiet unspoken connection, made of stolen glimpses and brief conversations.
The production comes to end, which threatens their slow-burning romance because Michael's time in the town comes to an end. Would she be able to take a leap of faith and follow him into his world or stay in her quiet, predictable life? Would she be able to cope with the public eye and the pressures of fame?
(Please note that some events in this book are not real but fictional.
Also, this is my first book, so it may have some cringey parts. Also, the use of modern day technology will be included)
Enjoy!!!
I've recently become such a devoted fan of Michael Jackson, and it honestly breaks my heart that I only discovered his magic after he was gone. It feels like a love with no physical place to land - a love that lives somewhere between admiration, imagination, and longing for the kindness he gave to the world.
This short story takes place between 1990 and 1992, during the Dangerous era, when Michael was at the height of his fame yet still searching for peace. It follows a young woman who, after attending one of his concerts, unexpectedly finds herself offering Michael a safe place to stay for the night when paparazzi make it impossible for him to return to his hotel.
As the days quietly unfold, the two build an emotional connection built on trust, innocence, and understanding.
I've grown to adore Michael not just for his music, but for how generous, gentle, and genuine he was in everything he did. This story is my little way of honoring that - and my heart goes out to all the fans who had tickets to This Is It, and to every woman who ever saw him for the sweetheart he truly was.
