In "Charlie & Marie," the world of sixteen-year-old Marie crashes down as her big brother, Samuel, dies in a car accident. Her body physically recovered, yet deep inside, these wounds would have to take much longer to mend. Fragments of her memories of that night continue to plague Marie, and the guilt grows with each passing day. That was the night she managed to sneak out to a party, where just before the crash, she and her brother Samuel had an escalating argument.
At Samuel's funeral, Marie runs into Charlie, Samuel's best friend and her long-time crush. Finding comfort with each other through their grief, they end up getting closer to one another, but Charlie has a painful secret: Samuel was into drugs, and Charlie had known for months. Guilt walks with him for not stopping his friend from driving under the influence that night, knowing his silence possibly led to Samuel's death.
As Marie starts to learn what really occurred that night, she and Charlie are pulled into a complicated web of love, guilt, and betrayal. Or will the uncovering of that night's truth tear them apart-or draw them closer?
Cliffhanger: As the layers of Samuel's hidden life begin to unravel, Marie is left pondering-how much of her brother had she truly known? And how much of his death was her fault?
