That was the first thing he ever said to me. Not Are you okay? or Whoa, close call. Just Sunshine. Like he already had me figured out in a single glance.
I turned, ready to snap back, but froze instead. The boy was tall, lean in that rude-I-play-sports way, with dark hair that looked like he'd rolled out of bed and decided to stay hot anyway. A bat stick rested casually against his shoulder, like it was an accessory.
"Sorry," I mumbled, brushing at my shorts. "The dock's slippery."
"Or maybe you just don't know how to walk." His mouth curved into the most insufferable smirk.

That's when I push him back and got off of the couch. I saw him watching me with feral eyes that told me I probably angered him even more.
