Kikyo dies in Inuyasha's arms but Piccolo can't stand to see Inuyasha unhappy even though he and the gang were from the dimension and become friends with Inuyasha and the others. He begs Sesshomaru to bring Kikyo back with Tenseiga. At first, he refuses but when the Tenseiga reacts to the truth in his heart he agrees. A few months later, everyone is happy, except Piccolo. He feels empty and finds himself falling in love with Kikyo ever since they first met and become friends, but it is wrong because Inuyasha and Kikyo are already married and have children.
