Before he becomes a dedicated researcher at Viktor Chondria University, and long after the traumatic summer of 2010, Okabe follows Kurisu overseas to the United States, deciding to take college seriously so that he can study with other brilliant minds and preserve the sacred worldline.
He spends his time living with roommates in California, researching at one of Viktor Chondria's satellite campuses where Kurisu is employed. Having left both joyous and harrowing memories behind, he works to try to grow bigger than his overwhelming post-traumatic stress; measure up to Kurisu's brilliance with the dream of proposing to her; and host an old neighbor he used to tutor (Subaru Natsuki) - sent over for the summer by his parents in hopes he'll catch Okabe's "contagion of academic passion."
This work is planned as a limited series with a couple chapters, taking place in the universe of and inspired by the Science Adventure Series written by Chiyomaru Shikura.
(The MATURE tag is more 18+ than anything super intense. This is more of a character study.)
