In the midst of the yōkai's sudden invasion in the now apocalyptic samurai nation of Kaizen, a troubled teenaged ronin by the name of Kojiro on the run from the talons of the shogunate finds a new life after reuniting with his childhood rival Takeshi Hashiro, who rides with a militia of yōkai hunters known as the Kirisenshi 霧戦士 ("Warriors of the Mist"). Wanting revenge on the yōkai that destroyed his home and life, Kojiro joins the Kirisenshi and quickly becomes of the greatest yōkai hunters in Kaizen, hoping to redeem himself to the people and find a way to fulfill his legacy as a samurai of Clan Ryujin..
