Each step of Sanaa's life is marked by harsh criticism, making her childhood a constant struggle for approval and understanding. As she grows older, Sanaa is forced to confront the long-term affects of her toxic upbringing.

The story explores her path toward healing as she attempts to break free from the trauma, reclaim her identity and rebuild parts of herself that were damaged by the person she should have been able to trust the most-her mother. Through resilience and self-discovery, Sanaa learns what it means to overcome the pain of a dysfunctional relationship and find strength in spite of her past, and her mother.
