In this story by first-time author Pyra K. Drake, humans stopped dying in 2026, and humanity had ushered in a massive utopian society with the help of AI, nanites, and perhaps even aliens. Death had ceased to exist, pain and sickness was rare, and all human problems had been solved, leaving politics as a purely ceremonial affair.

Umbra Southgate is the self-styled Queen of the Itavrnai Union, a neo-nation of her friends across the globe, registered with the United Nations Neo-Nation Register. A movement of satirical nations started by Ironland grew into a massive fervour or neo-national identities and the creation of international voluntary associations styled as neo-nations.

The Itavrnai Union is focused on one thing, the glory of games, as the World Games Association, an AI-run competitive sports, video games, and board games governing body, pit the world against each other like one massive eSports event, running forever.
