The fluorescent lights flickered overhead as the tension in the hallway thickened. Lockers lined the walls like silent witnesses to the standoff, each one filled with secrets and whispers. I stood there, heart racing, gun steady in my hand, finger hovering dangerously close to the trigger.
"So it was you all this time???" I shouted, my voice echoing against the polished tiles. My breath came in sharp bursts as I stared at him, the boy I once considered a friend.
He leaned casually against the locker, a smirk playing on his lips, his dark hair falling just enough to shadow his eyes. "Hn? Of course it's going to be me. After all, you shouldn't know all the things we do."
His nonchalance infuriated me. Anger coursed through my veins, but underneath it lay a flicker of doubt. Had I truly unraveled the web he'd woven, or had I just stepped into a trap?
The hallway, once a place of laughter and camaraderie, now felt like a battleground, the air charged with the weight of betrayal. With every heartbeat, the truth loomed larger, and I could almost taste the inevitability of our confrontation. Would I pull the trigger, or was there still a chance to understand?
